Emmy for Best Cultural Documentary

Howard
University Television (WHUT) will kick off its
annual summer fundraising event with an
entertaining collection of musical programming
featuring some of America’s most celebrated
musicians. Tune in to WHUT from August 12 through
September 15, for programs such as Sam Cooke:
Legend, an in-depth portrait of one of R&B’s
pioneers, and a special concert, Jazz Icons:
Ella Fitzgerald Live in ’57 and ’63. Also, WHUT
will feature Dance Party: The Teenarama Story
produced by WHUT’s own Beverly Lindsay-Johnson,
winner of the 2006 Emmy for Best Cultural
Documentary.
