HUCE Honors Community Pharmacists in Nigeria


Awards & Certification Ceremony of Training for Nigerian Community Pharmacists on HIV/AIDS, OIs and STIs - Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria

On July 6, The Sheraton Abuja in Nigeria was the site of the first of six award ceremonies hosted by the HUCE/PACE Center for community pharmacists who completed a year-long skill certification program titled “Training for Community Pharmacists on HIV/AIDS, Opportunistic Infections and Sexually Transmitted Infections,” which was conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).

Under the Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria (GHAIN), which operates in over six states in Nigeria, the HUCE/PACE Center is responsible for strengthening the capacity of community pharmacists so they may play a stronger role in the treatment, care and support of persons living with HIV/AIDS in project states of Nigeria. The ceremony awarded full Howard University Continuing Education certificates to 13 pharmacists who completed the entire didactic and practical phases as well as certificates of attendance to another 23 pharmacists, all of whom are practitioners in or around Abuja
